LEADERSHIP IN THE MOVIES

(10-12) Semester     

Prerequisite: NONE

 

Everyone watches movies.  Now you can watch them with a purpose!  In Leadership in the Movies, we watch clips from Hollywood blockbusters and use them to jump start our discussions. 

 

You will view movie clips that teach principles such as Setting The Course/Goal-Setting, Building Others / Building Dreams, Facing Crisis, Sacrifice/Servanthood, Battling Injustice/Leadership Courage, Commitment/ Integrity, Rescuing Others, Building A Team, Conflict Resolution, Problem-Solving, Arrogance/Cruelty, Empathy vs. Sympathy, Accepting Others/Building Diversity, Taking Action, and Communication.

 

Clips will come  from films such as: Akeelah and The Bee, Cars, Chicken Little, Cinderella Man, Dreamer, Dreamgirls, Eight Below, Flags of Our Fathers, Glory Road, Happy Feet, Ice Age 2, Inside Man, Invincible, Little Children, Mission Impossible III, Over The Hedge, Pirates of the Caribbean, Superman Returns, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Devil Wears Prada,  The Pursuit of Happyness, United 93, Walk The Line, We Are Marshall, World Trade Center, X-Men 3.

 

Leadership in the Movies is for students who are past, present or future officers in clubs, organizations or teams and for any individual who wants to learn about leadership so they can use these skills their personal or professional life.
